2011 Deepavali

The preparation started early . Thiba baked cookies every weekend in the one month countdown to Deepavali day and we started shopping early too to avoid last minute shopping . But as usual, until the very end , we were still shopping as we seem to have forgotten this for that person .

A day before Deepavali, my family had the gift-exchange-ceremony where all my siblings exchanged gifts that we bought for each other . We usually get everyone cothes or accessories . As this happens only once in a year, we really go all out . 
We celebrated a simple Deepavali this year as the focus was more to Logan's wedding that was to take place 2 weeks after . 

The kids were up early and after oil bath, got ready for temple . The theme was red for the Rubens this Deepavali. We had to get tshirt for me the night before as I was not aware that Thiba picked red  . 
We then left for the temple with my brothers and sisters . This time it was to Uchi Vinayagar Temple Jalan Bukit . Beautiful temple and not many people so we could take our own sweet time praying and the children had good time running around as well . 


Then the women's in the house got busy with the cooking while the men played the "Jaya Retnam Family Tradition" Deepavali card game - aka POKER and watched Deepavali programmes on the TV . When night came , Thiba's parents came for a visit .Then the Nemisha's birthday celebration started.Had sooo much fun and I am sure Nemisha enjoyed herself too . 

The next day , we headed to Thiba's house but they had their open house only a few days after . It was a low key celebration but a meaningful one . We rarely get a chance to meet everyone , all at the same time so we really cherish the time spent during Deepavali .
